Alistair Wood is a former Regular Army Officer. While being educated in England his early life was divided between family in New Zealand and Scotland, largely on the Isle of Skye. He has a Masters degree in Strategic Studies from the University of Aberdeen, and is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.
On leaving the Army he has worked as an Advisor to a number of UK Government Departments including the Home Office, FCO and DfID. In 2004 he was appointed as Private Secretary to TRH The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester. On leaving the Royal Household in 2012 he established, with colleagues, a group of commercial and not for profit entities that promote the potential of the Commonwealth in the areas of collective security, resilience, trade, and education.
In 2016 he joined the London Scottish Regimental Trusts. The Trusts are currently engaged in a substantive programme of change at the heart of which is the development of a financially viable community hub to the underpin the concept of Scotland in London, and to generate revenue for the Trusts. In 2018 he became CEO of London Scottish Volunteer Enterprises which is the trading arm of the charities. Alistair’s considers the community, the atmosphere, and the shared vision of the LSH team his favourite parts of working at LSH.
